Over the last day or so, transfer rumours have emerged linking Manchester United with a stunning move for Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic.
The 28-year-old Croatian has been on Jose Mourinho’s radar for quite a few months now.
But, as it stands no deal has been done and it could be a long drawn out transfer if Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio is to be believed.
United & Inter still negotiating
Manchester United have offered €35m for Ivan Perisic, but Inter Milan want €55-60m for him.
Perisic and Jose Mourinho have held talks, and negotiations between Manchester United and Inter Milan have been going on for a month over a transfer.
Will Chelsea muscle in?
The big surprise in Di Marzio’s report is that Chelsea are also interested in signing Perisic.
And, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has asked to be kept abreast of how things are progressing with a move to Manchester United.
It is unclear at this stage whether Chelsea are really keen on Perisic, or this rumour is simply intended to drive up the price for the Croatian.
Bernardo Silva was constantly linked with Manchester United in recent weeks, only to sign for Manchester City on Friday.
A lot of the cloak and daggers rumours in the summer transfer window can be put down to an agent or player looking for a better deal.
Inter Milan preparing for life after Perisic
Inter Milan seem prepared to sell Perisic and are already looking at replacements.
Three names are mentioned by Di Marzio: Fiorentina’s Federico Bernardeschi, Sassuolo attacker Domenico Beradi and PSG’s Angel Di Maria.
This season Perisic has played in 53 games for club and country, scoring 15 goals and chipping in with eight assists.
If Perisic does join Manchester United, Anthony Martial’s time at Old Trafford could be up.
