Liverpool & Chelsea

The Guardian have reported some interesting news on Tuesday claiming that Liverpool are hoping to sign one of Chelsea’s best youngsters in the transfer window.

Liverpool finished the Premier League season in fourth, while Jurgen Klopp is looking to boost his squad before their return to the Champions League.

Some of the names linked to Liverpool are Southampton centre-half Virgil Van Dijk and RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita.

But the name on the Guardian’s report linked to Liverpool is a promising Chelsea striker.

What’s the story?

Dom Solanke is being tipped with leaving the Blues to joins the Reds.

After a loan spell at Vitesse in 2015/2016, Solanke has failed to make an impact at Chelsea and is out of contract at the end of the season.

The emergence of Tammy Abraham at Bristol City on loan appears to have scuppered any hopes for Solanke to breakthrough into Chelsea’s first team.

According to the Guardian, Liverpool are set to sign the young English striker:

Liverpool are to sign Dominic Solanke from Chelsea having beaten several Premier League and European clubs to a deal for the promising young striker.

The 19-year-old has agreed terms with the Anfield club after refusing to sign a contract extension at Stamford Bridge amid concern over a lack of first-team opportunities.

Solanke is set to cost Liverpool a maximum of three million pounds.

Rather than inserting straight into the Liverpool team, it’s reported Klopp wants Solanke to integrate into the club via the under-23s.
