After weeks of reports, Neymar’s €222 million move to Paris Saint-Germain has suddenly got a lot more real.
That’s because the Brazilian was given permission to miss training as he takes a step closer to becoming the world’s most expensive footballer.
The forward actually turned up to training on Wednesday morning but was the last player to arrive as he turned up late.
But how did he spend potentially his last as a Barcelona player?
According to RAC1 journalist, Marta Ramon, he spent 45 minutes at the training ground saying his goodbyes to his teammates before leaving in his own car.
And Barca confirmed the news that all their fans were dreading by tweeting: “Neymar Jr hasn't trained on Wednesday with the permission of the coach #FCBlive.”
A club spokesman added: "Neymar has communicated to the dressing room that he's leaving the club" and that he "said goodbye to his teammates."
"The manager has given him permission not to train and to resolve his future.”
Barca fans are no doubt gutted as it now looks as though their attacking trident of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar will be no longer.
But it’s not just the fans that are disappointed.
After the new broke, club ambassador and club icon Eric Abidal also reacted on Twitter.
In a reply to a tweet suggesting Neymar had just told his teammates he will be leaving Barcelona, he wrote one word, while tagging in Barcelona's official Twitter page: “#Why?”
He then retweeted a report from Mundo Deportivo in which PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi said that the French club “respects contract.”
It seems Abidal isn’t very happy at all.
